Structural Materials & Robotics
This field focuses on advancing materials processing methods and developing next-generation structural materials that surpass current performance limitations, including high-temperature stability, superior strength-to-weight ratio, super formability, and high corrosion resistance. Research also emphasises green manufacturing, extractive chemical metallurgy, and additive manufacturing to enable sustainable and high-performance materials. In parallel, the robotics research explores cutting-edge materials, mechanics, and systems for robotics applications, including exoskeletons, wearable robots, soft robotics, and skin-like electronics. This area integrates multifunctional and adaptive materials to enhance robotic performance, human-robot interaction, and bio-inspired designs, paving the way for intelligent and responsive robotic systems.
